Raise your hand if you’ve ever finished a client session and thought:
- Did I ask the right questions?
- Did they get anything out of that?
- Am I actually helping them?
Welcome to the internal spiral of every new coach.
Here’s the truth: Coaching isn’t about you being the hero—it’s about creating a space for your clients to explore, discover, and grow. And yes, you’re helping—even when it doesn’t feel like it.
3 Signs You’re Helping Your Client (Even If They Don’t Say It):
- They’re Thinking Differently.
- Insight happens in layers. Sometimes a client doesn’t have an “aha” in the session—but they leave with a seed planted.
- They Feel Heard and Seen.
- Holding space is powerful. Clients often gain clarity simply because someone (you!) is listening deeply without judgment.
- They’re Taking Small, Aligned Steps.
- Progress doesn’t always look like big wins. If your client is taking any small, intentional action, you’re helping.
What to Do When You Feel Doubt Creep In:
- Trust the process. Growth takes time, and coaching isn’t always linear.
- Reflect back to your client. At the end of the session, ask: “What was most valuable for you today?” You’ll often hear more than you expect.
- Release the need to “fix” or rescue. Your role is to explore, not solve. Trust your client’s capacity to figure it out.
Your clients don’t need a perfect coach—they need a present one. If you’re showing up, listening, and creating space for growth, you’re helping. I promise.
